On-Air Judging for a Creative Jam

HOW IT WORKS

Being an on-air judge for a Creative Jam means that you get to provide verbal feedback to eager designers and score the projects presented to you. Your feedback informs all the participants, and your scores help to determine the winners.

When your participation is confirmed, an event calendar invite will contain links, details, and contact information. When you receive the final projects for scoring, they will come with information on how to review them. Scoring files are provided at least 24 hours in advance of the Finale event.

 The files include:

  • Google Scoring Sheet with Rubric Guide

  • Jam Challenge Brief

Google Scoring Sheet You will score in a unique tab in a shared Google Scoring sheet. You may view the projects, pre-score, and rank as necessary. The sheet contains the Team Name, Project Name, Project URL, and Project Abstract. The Abstract is an overview provided by the competitors to help support the target audience and intention of the submission. The rubric is a guide to help you score each project. Each criterion receives a maximum score of 25 for a full project total of 100.

Jam Challenge Brief The details of the challenge that the Creative Jam competitors are solving are in this brief. Review the document in detail to understand the design approaches of each team.

The Submissions Projects have been created in a limited amount of time and are typically in the early stages of development. Base your scoring on ideas and voice rather than final production value. Click the provided URL to navigate through the projects. Competitors are not required to provide writing, nor are they required to illustrate full projects in a completed state. Greeking/FPO copy and use of stock imagery is accepted as long as they provide context on the nature of the content. If you run into any issues, there are a few ways to troubleshoot:

  • Hit refresh in your browser.

  • Wait for images to load. Perhaps they are large or slow to render.

  • Sometimes complex animations take a while to load, so please be patient.

If you need help, reach out to the show producer for assistance.

pre–SCORING

Review each project and score accordingly. If you have any questions or run into errors, do not hesitate to reach out to the producer.

Pre-score Finale projects prior to the event so you can focus on the presentations and make any adjustments before the end of team presentations.

The notes section to the right is for your internal use only and is neither shared nor provided to the team. It is for your use while you review. You may use it to outline your verbal on-camera feedback during the Finale.

THE FINALE: FEEDBACK ON–AIR

Competitor teams will show up to the Finale ready to present. You will hear a bit more context about each project and watch their presentations. Once it is time for you to give feedback, please be specific, but brief. Provide one insight that the team effectively executed and one way they can improve on the project going forward. After the presentations and live feedback, you will be asked to finalize your scores and confirm completion with the producer.

Finalizing Your Scores Please mark the big yellow box at the top of the scoring sheet. Mark it with an X or the word ‘yes.’ This lets us know you have locked your scores and the Jam team can call the winners.

THAt iS IT!

After the Finale, your job is done! Feel free to connect via LinkedIn to those you have met during the event, as you may have new fans.

We appreciate and value your time as an on-air judge. The feedback portion is by far the most valuable part of the event for the finalists and all the participants watching. If you have further questions, please email us at [email protected].
